All That Glitters (2023)

For trumpet/flugelhorn and piano

Commissioned by Adam Zinatelli

Duration: 13 minutes

In All That Glitters (2023), the common thread is one of expectation. The first movement ‘romanze’ takes a sweet opening motif and transforms it in unexpected ways.  In the second movement ‘agitation’, pent up energy of increasingly-intense long notes builds and explodes repeatedly. The third movement ‘waiting’ is meant to capture the wistfulness of perpetually waiting for something or someone who will never return.
All That Glitters was commissioned by trumpeter Adam Zinatelli, and made possible through funding from the Canada Council for the Arts.
